finally i am here posting!
long time huh?
well i have to admit, lots have happened since the last post, no even since the Os were over
well i try to bring it all up in this post just to make it up for u guys
hahah
omg this shall take me the entire night
I hope i'm wrong

So just to get the balls rolling, I'll start with something random
Found some eggs on the wall outside my house one day somewhere during the Os (i think around SS time)
then they hatched a few days later!

The bugs quite cool la... look abit like scorpion got claws liddat
haha then my mother at first thought they were the parents of the eggs cos they look abit too big to hatched out from the eggs... but at last it was proven that they were the babies cos the no. of them equal the no. of eggs... lol abit retarded la i guess

Then alumni dinner!
It was before the last few MCQ papers if i'm not wrong
we helped the ppl there by packing some door gifts and also in the reception
had a great time and the food was great too
but didn't get to enjoy de dessert cos had to zao early meet some other frens
haha oh well heard it was red bean paste or something

Went over to dex's house to stay for the 4 days before grad night.

Now that everything's over... must emo abit... haha

kk so thats the grad night... after that we went out to ton with the 4 love guys, some of the Little Girls and other class girls, and also hh and tanner
we didn't know where could we go and what we wanted to do sia... almost went to kbox, but at last ended up in pool
played until like 4 something then left... but then no transport home sia... so we camped at mac and waited until 5.30 plus, then made our way home

Well thats the past... so wad happened today?
haha well, went to mediacorp to attend wad anniversary thingy
Some "gold pillow" were supposed to break during the end of the event, broken prop photo taken in the backstage after everything's over.

though the entire thing was abit boring but the food at the end at the reception was fabulous! haha and it was free somemore...
though both are buffet style, it could beat wad we had in grad night easily, got alot seafood and stuff sia, and laksa somemore... eat until full
lol took the same lift with fann wong and the bu fan de ai de woman actor(the one that also has aids and at first like iceberg one)
I quite shock that fann wong so tall when i stand beside her in the lift, she like same tall or abit taller than me sia... Then i realised she was wearing super tall stiletto heels... =O

then my mother tok to her ask how's her sis...
then her she say her sis at overseas or wad goign to marry, if i nvr hear wrongly...
after that i asked my mother like how she know fann wong and her sis de, then she say last time when she young fann wong and her sis always go her house play de.
waah i until today nvr knew sia...
Yeah but during that time, i didn't know why, but i had the inspiration or something to work in mediacorp when i grow up... lol... just had that feeling the mediacorp was a great place... (probably cos of the food though)

yeaps... so thats most of it, still got photos meant for this post but i nvr recieve them yet... so keep checking back i think i will edit this post from time to time...
took me around 2 hrs plus... well its a relief thats its not the entire night =DD

Pain

Muffled sounds drifted from the ajar door into the ears of the captive. Darkness surrounded his otherwise naked body. The only thing that adorned him was a sickly ray of light shining across his torso like a white sash. His hands were clenched in pain.

“A former Chinese boxer,” the voices outside said, “We found this Chinese recruit lying under a banyan tree after the skirmish.”

The voices faded. The captive tried to recall what happened, his sweaty brow furrowed in concentration. Drops of blood oozed out of his wounds and mingled with his perspiration, running down his arms, thigh and feet. All he could think was pain.

It was dusk. The regiment was approaching the temporary Japanese base situated near some Malay settlement. The setting sun painted the landscape red, and soon it would really be; red with blood. It was only a few moments before the invasion started. The man and his comrades charged towards the sloppily built tents and opened fire, bullets bursting from the tip of their rifles. The Japanese soldiers screamed in horror and pain as bullets reduced their bodies into bloody shreds.

Suddenly the man fell, as if knocked over by some unseen force. All instincts told him to run for cover. Every step was a step of agony. Eventually he reached the banyan tree. He collapsed in pain, blood pouring from the gaping bullet hole on his thigh.

The captive tried to move his blood-soaked arms. They were chained to the wall. Now he could see through the darkness, and the walls of the room were decorated with implements of torture, implements of pain.

“Whack!”

The cane smashed onto the bare flesh of the boy. He was back in his childhood home, a kampong.

“I told you not the feed the beggar!” his step mother screeched, continuing to thrash him. Stroke after stroke landed, the boy howled in pain. The boy had been through the wrath of his petty and selfish step mother many times before. Nevertheless nothing could deter him from going back to the beggar and feeding him. This was how he was brought up, experiencing a childhood of pain.

He was now in a boxing ring. The audience howled as the man landed a crushing blow onto the opponent. The opponent retaliated by landing a volley of blows to the man’s solar plexus. The man withstood the pain and made his retribution, finally leaving the opponent on the ground, writhing in pain.

He was now in the recruit camp, hours before the fateful skirmish. He was recruited for his physical prowess and his endurance. The man stood up, legs aching, but no pain can deter him from fighting the Japanese, from fighting for his country…

He was back in the interrogation room, and darkness once again surrounded him. Footsteps approached the door. The man’s breathing quickened, just like when he was thrashed by his mother, just like when he fought his opponent in the boxing ring, just like when he was shot. His mind was made up; no amount of pain can deter him from achieving his goals, and no amount of pain can force him to betray his country.

The door finally opened.

Holiday hw still left alot nvr do.. and unlike other holidays... this time the teacher really will chase for de homework one! hahas so very busy lor...

Well as i should be doing hw now i just blog abit la, not too much, so enjoy this essay i wrote for de eng enrichment today =)

Dreams

Startled, he roused from the bizarre experience. He hands clenched the bed sheets, soaking them in perspiration. His still-unfocused eyes darted about as he recalled the recent visions. The dreams had come to him one by one, night by night; and the evasiveness of their purpose and meaning mortified him.

The first dream was a man in black, standing upon a hill. The hill was surrounded by waters in turmoil, some parts black, and some parts white; and they seemed to be divided against each other.

He could see black waves rising; and the white ones too. Nevertheless, the white waves always crashed upon the black, smothering them, suppressing them.

The man opened his mouth, his face gaunt and sickly, nevertheless it still shone with wisdom and compassion. He said over the tossing waters, “Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth, upon this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.”

And that was how the dream ended.

The second dream came upon him like a thief in the night. Unlike the previous chaos, this dream was peaceful. Sunlight was streaming upon a seat. Out of a window nearby, one could see things passing by, sometimes a dewy meadow, sometimes a brilliant countryside streaked with gold. It could be inferred that by the passing sceneries that the seat was situated in some sort of vehicle.

The seat was clean, except for a streak of white paint on it. Suddenly there was a tremor throughout the vehicle, and dust blew forth from the ground and hung in the air. The black dust settled, but on the seat, the dust could not. The white streak persevered, selfishly, refusing to be covered by the black dust.

And that was how the dream ended.

The most bizarre dream came upon him this every night. Now he was standing on the top of the hill. The waters around him were still in turmoil. Suddenly, he felt a force he never felt before moving his body. He raised his arms and opened his mouth.

He never got to hear what he spoke, but just before he woke up from the dream, he saw the waters calm.

He pondered about what they meant day and night. As he sat beside a table on the fourth night, he began to see the meaning in them. Inspiration and determination slowly flowed forth like a bubbling spring. He picked up his quill and began to write.

It was day, and he was standing at a high place; at the step of a memorial. Multitudes, regardless of race, were gathered below and around him. He opened his mouth:

“I have a dream, five score years ago…”

Yes, Martin Luther king had a dream.

Wuzun thinks of getting married!!!

Well that may be sad news to all you fan girls out there! cos once he's married, no more "Chun's mine!" anymore! =PP
But seriously, finally there's someone in the entertainment industry's who's in the right mind, no sex scandal, no affairs, no "celibacy" because of "workload". He says its because his father is getting old and would like to see a grandson, so he'll try his best to get married(or get laid? =PPPPP) despite the stress of the media industry. That's like so filial la! He's not just a pretty face, hahaas Chun's da best~!(Although Farenheit sucks in live concerts =X)

Well MCR's concert's over! didn't watch though, it was clever of them to place it during the june holidays... hahas but well i don't think it'll be worth it. (buying their albulm would be more worth it)
Their songs are great as aways, but their concerts, not.
They can be said as the american version of farenheit, both can't sing for nuts in their live performances.

Well Gerald just seems to have half the range he has in live performances compared to the album, he avoids hitting all the high notes such as "asleep or dead!" in "famous last words". Well but half of his range is already damn good la... damn so want to be like him('cept the concert part)
I admire his expressions! =D so funny and expressive, He's a great artist and rocks, well to a certain extent~(large)

Back from church camp a few days ago! And it was such a great time for me and for God! (yeah because we go there not just for ourselves but for him also!) Hahaas it was a totally new experience for me considering all the previous church camps I went before. And God fulfilled his prophesy and answered my prayers! praise God! Well save that for later and tok abt the camp first...

We went there a day earlier than the main congregation with dexter, abby, sarah and benneo(he take car) and on the 7 hour plus bus trip I realised that i nvr bring headphone!!! =OOOO then cannot listen to music!!! =( lol but i lived through the 7 hrs la, half alive, half dead.... (asleep) =P

On Day 0(let's just call it that) we stayed in the hotel room and played guitar, half composed a country song and made some music video of power rangers and happy bday with benneo and dex. hahas...

The 1st day we went to last minute swimming before everyone arrived!

They have arrived!

We were changing room for 1st day onwards and waiting for the room rey was agonising! the hotel was booked full and we had to wait for rooms to be checked out and prepared before recieving the key! and ppl also change change rooms and affect the order of registration so the hotel and church staff in charge of such things were overwhelmed. can see they stress when we found them to get our room key.

After settling down we had services and worships. I was quite surprised as the camp theme was exactly the same as previous church camp in Beijing BICF! The bible verse also the same sia... but the approach to the theme was different and i think it's a blessing from god to see his word being omnipotent and omniapplicable. we experienced great movement in the holy spirit within us. God's healing hands touched the congregation of the church:
-ppl once bound on wheel chair but now can walk
-ppl eyesight improve (dexter's dad! =DDD)
-ppl knees being cured of rheumatism or arthritis and being able to run and squat again
-ppl with sports related back and elbow injuries being healed
-ppl being able to hear clearer (no more hearing aid!)
-ppl having allergies being healed!
I was once a skeptic of such faith healing events and even doubted whether it was biblically correct, for many years lived with the belief (or maybe unbelief?). Until today. I can say that God really changed my perception of him in this camp, not only he is a healer of hearts, but a healer of everything! praise the lord!

He also touched us through the gift of prophesy, preacher mike connell urged us to have faith and listen to god, and to practice prophesying for each other(asking god to reveal a person's needs for prayer to us).
-i was touched by seeing the degree of faith mike connell has with god in his life.
-i was touched by seeing the power of god working through the entire congregation, ppl had sensations on their bodies and they came out to pray for those who were affected in those parts.
-i was touched by the way god worked through me (the person i least expect to achieve anything due to my unopen spiritual life) and that he used me to prophesy for brother terry and pastor daniel. (I had a vision of a pen and it turned out that terry was a teacher)

I was also touched by the unity of god's ppl, that even we sometimes had opinions or even grudges for each other, we still prayed as a church, as a cell and as a friend or brother in christ.

For the remaining 4 days, we hung out as a group during our free time

Fun sia... but too bad nvr scare 2 ppl of our hang out group cos if time constraints and complaints of noise form neighbour....(cos of eunice's high pitch!) hahas

Well it was really an enjoyable camp and may be the pinnacle of the june hols this year... now on to my testimony! (clutches testicles now)

Pastor Derrick asked for ppl with allergies to go up to be prayed for, and as you know many ppl in the camp experienced allergy healing like able to eat crab and all these. I also asked pastor daniel to pray for my nose, which is affected by sinusitis and will be the first to flare up during an allergy. But i was rather disappointed as nothing much came out of the prayers during the camp.

I often experienced allergies in the form of continuous runny nose with copious amounts of watery mucus coming out, itching eyes and if the the very extent, asthma. I have little stuff I'm allergic too but i have rather weird allergens, such as after bathing(if the water gets into your nose or you blew your nose while showering), after washing face, after going to take socks.

I was rather surprised in the day i came back from camp that my nose didn't react after washing face, and somemore i was using an old facial cleanser(new one ran out) that sure will kena allergy one last time. and somemore when i took socks this morning i also didn't suffer from runny nose! my allergy to them was gone! praise the lord! This really show that if you sincerely believe in the character of god, and to claim things that go with his character and will, he will bless you.

That was prayers being answered, but terry's prophecy for me came true also! He had a vision of an empty fish tank. And he felt that god wanted to tell me that if have some place that are empty or in need on my live and he is goign to fill them up in his time. then terry asked whether it applied to my life, and i told him abt the DSA i was very worried abt. so we prayed abt it. Then on the next day, unbeknownst to me, at singapore, vjc called my mother and told her there was an audition. It was really weird as i only submitted the online application but not the letter containing documents yet, and normally they would only call after they have recieved all. Then the same thing happened ytd for rjc! they called me abt the audition when i nvr submit everything yet. Today was the rjc audition and there is a second round of audition tomorrow. God has blessed me and answered my prayers and i believe that he has not finished yet and will still continue seeing me through and blessing me throughout the entire ordeal! How great is our god, Now i only want to sing laudate dominum! laudate dominum omnes populi!

Just came back from genting ytd, woke up at 4.50pm today! can you believe it? hahas
WEll actually is because last night slept at 5am la, watching videos online on my mother's comp(which is only available at night and early morning!) my comp cannot be used to watch vids online cos once you stream them, 5 mins later, the comp will crash! =((( i desperately want a new comp! okay enough ranting. Tok abt genting, hahas

Nothing much to tok abt, cos it rained and we couldn't play much. But because it rained, we had beautiful fog!(lol)

Since I haven't been blogging for like 3 weeks already, I should just add in a little details of wad happened!
Now rewind~!
Before my bro's bday, got a funny bird come to our house and stay there don't move! even we touch it or disturb it it will also remain there! weird lor. Then later got a uncle that is my mother's fren say de bird not good cos very noisy, and ask me to take it away. =( so I bring it under a tree and left it there. Then the next day when i and my brother go to the park, we saw it there! lol how it go there one!

Then the next day, we went back to de park, then we saw it lying on the floor! dead liao ="(( It appeared to be whacked by someone! so evil sia. I don't have the pic of the dead bird cos not nice lol.

Then 2 days before the bday, robby's family invited us to eat pasta mania. We emptied 2 bottles of cheese during our visit there! funny sia.

the day before the party, met dex and cellmates in steamboat for cell bonding! had a hard time getting there sia, cos very ulu de place. hahas

Then is my bro's party. It appeared that all his classmates except 3 were busy cos of some class comittee meeting. Lol so it's robby frens, and my frens that dominated the guests. heheheheheh. Well it was fun anyway. IT SHOULD BE! COS I SKIPPED MY NJC DSA CHOIR AUDITION JUST FOR THE PARTY! RAAR.

hahas had a fun time crapping/playing with dex and liang at kfc today. After phys remedial, we deicided to go KFC to eat away all our sorrows and then we tok tok tok...
Then dexter say that got a person called ben, he is from school band one(notice the pun), and he is a pro drummer in a band also... So we make fun say he also have bandage(bendage) Then sl he suddenly say "Bondage!"

Then after that funny game we continued to play one more game... a game that also will improve our english. Somebody write a sentence then we have to rewrite the sentence in a same meaning but in a different manner, using diff words and all these... Then the next person must rewrite the sentence constructed by the previous player... then the sentence will change change change then can see the sentence at last the meanign got deviate how much...

We anyhow on this sentence sia... at last become like "we have the freedom to do anything we want" and "nothing is impossible"

This one we play got penalty and timing one! at first if nvr finish writing you sentence in 1 min, plus 1/2 penalty points, then later in the game is nvr finish writing is 30 secs then will plus 1/2 penalty points... but luckily nobody tio sia... then later at the end of the game since nobody tio so we check and penalise the ppl that change the sentence too much and inappropriately... in the end i and dex all draw sia, each have to most and same points... sl lesser cos he alway change quite safe... he last game always change damn different, cos he is like inferring from the sentence rather than stating the same meaning, for example, "friends are always there for us," he can like inference liddat, say "we can always rely on frens" lololol... so now got penalty le then he play safe le la... so i and dex rematch and he won cos in the sentence he gave me to change i nvr change all the words completely... X(((
so tmr got penalty treat drink sia.... no.....

But very long nvr laugh so much le lor... hahas... but soon i had to zao cos got piano lesson at 6.30... then at the way home from piano class met Andrew and Darren all these at the traffic light at opposite ends of the road, then when we crossing when green man flashing, we stopped to tok for a few secs, making a bus cannot cross, lol, then i think because of that there got a jam for a few mins lol =XXX

After a long and tedious day in school doing sian hcl paper, i, andrew, sl and dexter met jeremy at bcc to play basketball and after playing for a long time, sl, andrew and jerms all went home, so i go dex house and skipped dinner...

hahas exams over le... got back two papers and all very pretty good, lol
so after the exams we decided to chill and go out, ended up meeting dexter at coven to cut hair first. And de hair stylist style dexter until everybody not used to it, then ppl call him ultraman lol... shengliang met us after we cut hair and then we went to take mrt to meet the other guys

so where did i spend my 3 days?

Went to biopolis again for another genetics workshop. It's abt viral detection, for this case influenza.

Now before the normal stuff lets have some technical talk. ^^
The influenza virus is in short, our flu virus. If you have noticed, nobody seems to ever gain immunity from it or has ever developed a reliable vaccine for it. Ever wonder why?

Viruses such as chickenpox, measles and hepatitis B are all basically made of a protein capsid(de outer covering) and rna inside which carries genetic information. Their RNA is a long long strand that is linear. When the virus infects a host cell, this rna will be the one that instructs de host cell to stop producing proteins for itself but rather, make de viral parts and construct more viruses.

But in flu virus, the rna is not linear and it is in the form of 8 segments. Each segment control a particular part of the virus to be produced, such as the matrix protein in the capsid. But because the rna is arranged in 8 segments, there will be more chances for mutation when replicating in the cell. A minute change in any one of the segments will cause a change in the property of the virus, for example, its matrix protein changes. Then a new subtype or an entirely new type of flu virus is produced. This is why flu virus mutates so fast and why we cannot find a reliable vaccine for it.

So lets examine the classification of the flu virus.
There are 3 kinds of flu
influenza A, influenza B, influenza C

influenza A is the most diverse in all 3 families. It mutates very quickly, have high virulence(contagious) thus it has many variations and it infects both animal and humans. Alot of flu epidemics are all caused by influenza A:
Spanish Flu
Hongkong Flu
Asian Flu
Avian Flu

Influenza B almost only infects humans and the only other animal it infects is the seal. It mutates 3 times slower than type A and thus is less genetically diverse.

Influenza C is most least understood and unlike A or B, it has 7 rna segments instead of the usual 8. It infects humans and pigs and can cause severe illness. but it is very uncommon to find influenza C.

How do we name the flu virus types?
we heard recently that the Avian flu was named H5N1. So how did they give it this boring name?

H is actually HA and is a glycoprotein on the surface of the capsid. It is called hemagglutinin. This helps the virus to get into the cell by binding onto the receptors of the cell. there are alot of types of HA glycoprotein, ranging from H1 to H16.

N is actually NA and is also a glycoprotein on the surface of the capsid. It is an enzyme call neuraminidase. It helps the virus to get out of its host cell after reproducing. There are 137 types and 9 subtypes of NA.

So if a flu virus has HA 5 and NA 1, then the virus will be called H5N1, which is your bird flu.

So now we know the structure of the flu virus, how do we see if a person has the flu?

1st we use a throat swab or phlegm sample and put it into a small eppendorf tube and let it incubate awhile. Then we add some enzymes into it to kill break down all the cells and virus in it into protein(from the cells and the virus coat), rna(from the viruses) and dna(from your cells). Then we add Dnase and proteases in it, filter, to get rid of the dna and the proteins and wad we left is the viral rna.

Then we do reverse transcription PCR(polymerase chain reaction) to amplify(make copies) the viral rna into large quantities of corresponding DNA for testing. Reverse transcription is the opposite of transcription. Transcription as we all know, is making RNA from DNA. Reverse Transcription is the making of DNA from RNA. Ingenious right? i know. =P

Why do we need DNA and not RNA in our testing? firstly, RNA is less chemically stable and will break down easily(as it is only one strand, the other side left open). Secondly, when we are to detect the virus later, we are going to use a detector called ethidium bromide that will only bind to DNA and not RNA. Thus, if RNA were to be used for testing, no results will be shown. Thirdly, to amplify the DNa we would use DNA polymerase, to amplify RNA we would use RNA polymerase. The difference is that RNA polymerase is less accurate in making copies then DNA polymerase, and will make alot of mistakes, causing inaccurate results.

so wad is PCR anw?
PCR is polymerase chain reaction. It uses DNA polymerase, which replicates DNA, to create many more strands of a particular segment of DNA you want to amplify. In the case of reverse transcription PCR, it is amplifying DNA from RNA.
There are a few components in PCR.
Buffer
Enzyme mix
DNA/RNA template
Primer mix
DNA nucleotides

The buffer is actually basically water with magnesium ions in it. DNA polymerase is an enzyme that has an active site that is activated by the presence of magnesium ions. The higher the concentration of Mg ions, the faster the reaction, but the less accurate the product DNAs would be.

Enzyme mix is your enzymes required in the reaction. In this reaction the enzymes are Reverse Transcriptase and DNA polymerase(TAQ polymerase to be specific). Why Reverse Transcriptase? To perform reverse transcription you have to have reverse transcriptase, and then from the DNA produced you amplify it with the TAQ pplymerase. An important thing to know is the optimum temperature of which the enzymes work. Reverse Transcriptase works best in around 50 degrees celsius. TAQ polymerase on the other hands, is taken from a hot springs bacteria called thermophillus aquaticus. Thus it would only start working in high temperatures such as 95 degrees celsius, in which the RNA polymerase would denature.

The Primer mix we can say is one of the most important things in the whole concoction. Earlier said, we were going to amplify a certain sequence, only around 195 nucleotides, and not the whole strand of Viral RNA. To make copies of this particular part of the nucleic acid, we would not use enzymes and cut it or wad, as it would be impractical since enzymes are specific in where they would cut and in every PCR we may want a different section amplified. This is where the primers come in. The primers are single stranded DNA that are around 3 to 5 nucleotides in length. It nucleotide sequence is corresponding to sequence at the sides of the section you want to amplify. for example the DNA is ATGCG........GTACG, where the .... part is where you want to amplify. The primer would be TACGC and CATGC, where TACGC is the start primer and CATGC is the end primer. Notice that the start primer corresponds to the start of the sequence and the end primer corresponds to the end of the sequence.(note: A binds to T and vice versa, and C binds to G and vice versa too) The start and end primer would then bind to the part of the DNA or RNA to be amplified and serves as markers for the polymerases to start and end copying.

The DNA/RNA template is the RNA or DNA we want to amplify. For our case, the viral RNA we obtained by the throat swab. The more template the faster the reaction would be at the beginning.

The DNA nucleotides, or DNTPs for short, are the basic building blocks for the DNA(the bases and the phosphate backbone). The polymerases need these to construct new DNA, linking and bonding the DNTPs together to form DNA as they progress in the reaction.

So we add optimal amounts of all these together, go through several cycles of heating and cooling which is regulated by a machine, and finally end up with the product, alot of the particular DNA we want!

There were 3 specific places of the RNA we wanted to amplify, one was the H5 gene, second was the matrix protein for flu A gene, and the last was the matrix protein for flu B gene.

So we take the DNA produced and conduct a test called gel electrophoresis. So there would be 4 results possible. first is positive for flu A H5 subtype, second is flu A, third is flu B and fourth is negative. This is because we test for flu matrix protein gene and the H5 gene. The H5 gene is only possessed by the flu A but not flu B, and not all flu A has the H5 protein gene(there may be H4, H1 etc...). So for flu B you would not see the flu A matrix gene nor the H5 gene but just the flu B matrix gene. And for negative, it would mean you have no flu, or have flu C, which is very rare.

Just like that we will determine whether we have the flu virus. Like all experiments, this one also has a chance of screwing up, especially the PCR part. So we cannot trust the results fully.

hahas just had founders day... great success to everyone in our choir! =D
it was an angelic performance of the "peace of god" and a heart lifting singing of the school hymn! Congrats, we made a sucky song sound nice. =P

Went to school at 6pm ytd, and was late. So i didn't have dinner. Then we changed and makeup(not me =P) and settled down. Now after being charmaine's assistant, i think i know how to put make up le! so who wan put can come find me =X

So we gone through the pieces and as usual, there was a delay (mr low like tok too long, as always) so we did our other pieces. 9.30 we sang! =D Racheal coughed once on stage but luckily no one heard. Xueying played the school hymn too fast because of nervousness... and somebody burst into laughter just before the performance started on stage! the sound like farting liddat sia.. we laugh alot after that.

When the performance finished, we change back to normal and went down where there was free food! saw mr atherton but didn't tok to him. Jeremy is like his bodyguard sia... even have the wireless thing on his ear, lol. The food was nice (as i was hungry) and i met zhiwei and hannah! they probably came for the prize giving. Jeanette and the other graduated choir seniors came to see us too. And for some reason, amanda also came.

hahas so heres the concert....
This concert was organised by toh ban sheng and is named "i believe", starring Dunman High choir, Catholic JC choir and St Anthony Cassonian sec choir.
It bore this title because mr toh ban sheng supposedly said the words "i believe" to the dunman high choir that spurred them to the state they are today.

Well the choirs are good, so is the conductor, mr toh. But many ppl hate him. Firstly, lets talk abt his good points. He is very dedicated to teaching choirs and sacrificed a chance of a professional solo career just for it. He may very well be a tenor or countertenor soloist and earn big bucks, but he didn't and chose conducting instead. Scondly, he has a vast knowledge of vocal pedagogy and experience in teaching choirs, even much more than mdm yeong. Thirdly, he has an excellent voice(as heard from jeanette) able to sing bass(maybe?), baritone, tenor, alto, mezzo and soprano. This makes his range to be around 4 octaves. His sopranino range is unheard of but it may very well be there(if it is then his range would be 5 octaves). I for one have experienced the power of his voice when he came once to teach our choir last yr. His soprano voice, sung in falsetto, can reach up to a deafening fortissimo while reducing to a light pianissimo as well, truly breathtaking vocal and breath control.

The bad thing abt him is his abuse of his ego. He that time come and teach our choir once, and he tell the school that he don't want to teach. He say that if he was to teach our choir, he would have to start from scratch. True, i agree that we aren't good, but how can one speak so foully? All because of ego. He also is too dedicated to choir that he set very high expectations to those in it. He holds 3 practices a week ending very late each time. And if near a competition, even tell ppl to sacrifice their church time and duties to come to practice. This is atrocious as it actually infringes on the right of religion. Lastly, he does not correct ppl's mistakes while scolding them, but tell them to figure out themselves, as opposed to mdm yeong. Proud and arrogant, with such a voice, it's no wonder ppl call him gay.

So the went to the mrt station around 6 to meet farah and charmaine. Tehy were taking the mrt from angmokio to bishan then to city hall. I was supposed to meet them in the last cabin. But tragedy happened, i boarded the wrong train and go the wrong direction! =(( so i later then chase up and met them in city hall. then we reached victoria concert hall just in time for the concert.

The concert opened with a song sung by the st anthony choir we were very familiar: The peace of god. We sung that for our founders day. It was truly an enlightening experience, hearing the same song our choir is singing being sung by another choir. It reminds us of how much we still have to improve. Every dynamic was carefully expressed, every harmonization was carefully balanced, it was an excellent performance.

After that came legions of songs sung by dunman and cJC. the first song that had a soloist was the "circle of life" from the lion king sung by dunman. Farah was mesmerized by the guy's "sexy" voice(tenor). Sigh... Girls... =P The dunman choir was easily the biggest choir i've ever seen, with around a hundred members. I heard from mr niam their history was that when mr toh just came, it was as exactly like our choir! small with only one guy. hahas. Then slowly they changed and soared, achieving gold in various events. Now they are a SATB choir(soprano, alto, tenor, bass). All because of mr toh's "I believe". Hope mr niam can do that to our choir too, after all, he is mr toh's disciple.

Then the grand finale, all the choirs combined to fill the whole stage. It was a spectacular sight. Then the song was nice too. it also included various solos of bass, tenor and soprano parts. Then the male soloists came out and danced with female soloists and everybody all like "awww..." lololol so funny. Charmaine was head over heels abt a guy soloist also from dunman, because he very shuai... lol, she said that last yr dunman choir came to our school, she didn't have the guts to talk to him. hahas jiayous to her la....

So after everything ended, and mr toh went to the back stage, the choir was stil standing on the stage. The audience have alot of the friends of the ppl in the choirs, so they cheered and ask them to sing one more time. lol they insisted so vigorously that mr toh actually came out again to conduct for one last song. hahas joke sia... i dunno he so kind de. But then some of the ppl are like, "sian... why one more song! go home already la..." hahas =P

So after the concert ended, we headed home, on the way back we took some pics. hahas

the show opened with an ordinary and peaceful beginning, but quickly exploded into a dramatic display of action, plot, and laughter. Mr humpty dumpty (which i felt sad abt his demise), Wendy the dreamer ( played by lovely blessing), clown (by matthew bellido) and doll(by melody) were the talk of the show. The cast were well synchronized with their characters and pulled off an amazing performance. Ever be Everland! =D

After that we went makan sutra to eat and slack near the sea... It was tranquil and serene, ppl were emoing and romancing... hahas Then ppl left one by one until only left me, dex, robin, andrew, dion and desmond. So after much discussion we decide to head back to bishan and ton. Thats when we met anabelle and jordan. Anabelle left us shortly though, leaving us guys... We disturbed her through the phone in seven eleven, making the indian cashier go red in the face. Then we went robin's house and play ps2. but i dunno how play so i play guitar lol... Then andrew, jordan and desmond left us for home so we headed to play lan.... WE played CS and dota, all of which i was very noob, but it was a fun experience. When we left the lan shop, our dark accustomed eyes were dazzled by the bright sunlight: it wad seven plus in the morning! =0 So we ate roti for breakfast and headed home. By that time, cos of fatigue, dion and robin were high, joking and cursing and laughing... Well insomnia's their Ecstasy.

Well so went we went home, there was no straight bus to my house and i was STUCK between the junction to my house and amk hub! =( all the buses were going to amk and the only way of goign home was to walk, or to take a cab. Based on the events last night, one might confidently predict that i was bankrupt! So i was stranded! Oh no. So i made my way home slowly and by the time i reached the 2 busstop from my original position, i was like a zombie. So i flagged a cab and a kind uncle offered to take me home! =D I should report this kind soul to the taxi company to give him a reward, but sadly i forgot his name! =( singapore may be a fine and cold country(not literally) on the outside, but actually it's quite warm inside. It was an interesting experience for me =))

Tired for the lack of sleep, i woke up late on monday and slowly made my way to school. I was just in time and was not late. But sadly they decided to close the door of the hall to stop those that are diddly dallying did not quickly assemble from going in. I was stuck outside with those ppl, with robin included. fucking new policy... =( so we got a scolding and then went in after the national anthem ended.

After school we had a chinese compo test and i took my time in finishing it, resulting in an unbalanced essay with too big of a head and to thin of a tail; the ending was sloppily done while the beginning was choked full of elaboration. =( dunno will i excel in it or not... wrote abt extinction of species, with all those save mother earth crap rolled in.
hahas then after that went to library to study with sl, dex and darren. Did our hw furiously and dex managed to clear out all his hw! shiok for him la...

hahas... then we went KFC and i stared at his chicken so nice to eat sia... ahahs... then we became spas and took vids... had a fun time! =D

Well the competition is to see whether your chinese good or not good. They test things like riddles that have to guess either words or idioms, and summarising paragraphs, completing sentences, and your vocabulary. =(

We left early and reached there abt 2, then they briefed us and conducted a rehearsal, which is exactly like
the real thing except for the questions and retakes. luckily this is not a live program... hahas
In the rehearsal, our school did well. We almost made it to de finals, vsing cat high, victoria, Cedar Girls, Bukit Batok, and many more. In the rehearsal we screwed up the first question, causing us to fall behind some and at last we were top 4. Only the top 3 were allowed into the finals(we tied with cat high) and therefore there was a question that would determine whether we could get in. Sadly we didn't grab the opporunity as the girls were unsure or their answer. =( But it was a very close fight!

Then around 7 we ate our dinner and at 8, supporters from kcp come and cheered us on. The entire audience seats were filled. Then the real thing started. Victoria in terms of chinese were the best... They all 3 all is china one. And they all very basket. During the rehearsal, got one question is "有手就打". The answer is 丁, then the mc ask why say 丁 is the answer. The fat guy say,"问题里的手就是所谓的提手旁，丁有了提手旁就是打。" But he toking very fast and very blurr... like jaychou singing liddat. Then the mc commented on his voice saying he have a big voice but cannot hear wad he toking. Then the mc haven't tok finish, another guy cut in and say, "丁字有了提手旁你猜是什么字？" damn rude la. Then de mc just laugh, and say, "是我问你问题为什么叫我猜呢?" after all wad could he say? lol
So we called them panda, as they all so fat and from china, the chinese so pro...

Then got another group, if forgot wad school le, their idioms damn zai, sure is remember one. And the ppl inside all very proud. so we call their girls beachball (as in Bitch) and their guy Basketball ( as in Bastard)
Well but it was them who won the competition at last =((

So the thing started out with us screwing up again, as we were too nervous. But this time both 1st and 2nd question all screw up. Then Cat high suddenly took off their masks of innocence and became very pro. We could beat them in the guess words and idioms part. So we lost to them in getting to the finals. the only groups that were in the finals were Cat high, Victoria and the unknown bball school. Then got funny thing happen. When asked by the mc whether they were nervous in the finals, victoria and the unknown bball school all gave very bastard answers, and cat high said, "虽然我们是不同年级（one sec 3 two sec 4), 可是我们心有灵犀!" Waah we all laugh... cos it means they have chemistry and understanding between their hearts, like gay!

But in the finals, which is de 成语接龙, which is to continue with an idiom which the starting word must be the same sound as the last word of the idiom before it, Cat high did very badly as they nvr practise at all. And the basket victoria keep sabo them and pick the ending word very hard one so the cat high people cannot think of any idioms to continue. Hahas we all siding cat high by that time as the other two schools all have attitude problem one. But at last, the unknown bball schooll won... =(

Well disappointing but had fun =)

The day before ytd, went to dex house with shengliang to do a geography powerpoint on GM foods. Had a fun time there. We anyhow joke joke sia. Put lame stuff on the ppt. Then they chose the topic Golden rice cos i most got info on the topic. It provides vitamin A when normal rice does not. Vitamin A improves eyesight (think of carrots). Then they all very basket tease me abt it sia(think of the link)... hahas but play play only la... We also make fun of somebody else, hahas, shhh....

Then we go eat in nearby food court. Ate lemon chicken rice while dex ate medicinal chicken. Shengliang ate western and the stall very ungenerous give so little sia, and is twice as ex as de western stall in school. Very heart pain. hahas... Cos de stall in school use de is cheaper GM food, "golden rice"(yellow rice) lol...

The next day in school we present the ppt, i think it was well recieved. Thanks for all those that supported us =))

The principal prayed for it to be a drizzle and encouraged the ppl to persevere. Then i sign up to run abit then it really rain sia... shitty la, when i going run then rain... =( but then i pray and it stop, looks like God wanted to cool down the hot weather; blessing in disguise! but i really salute those that continued to run in the few minutes of pouring rain! go IJ! ;D

Today in church fellowship, our group leader mentioned abt challenging our faith and beliefs.
" I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it. Indeed, even now you are not yet able, "- 1 cor 3:2
How then shall we not be infants in Christ? it is to start pondering and not take things for granted. I agree on the fact that most 2nd generation or later Christians take for granted the blessing to be born into a Christian family.
Well I've once thought abt what i believe, and now I've thought abt it again:

I believe that God is real, omnipotent, omnipresent and righteous.

I believe that there is only one God

I believe in the trinity, God in three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

I believe that Jesus is a true human, and also God.

I believe that Mary is just a normal human living a holy life, and had a virgin birth, which conceived Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.

I believe the Jesus died and rose again, hanging our sins on the cross and those that believe in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

I believe that God created the world and its beings in 6 days and rested on the 7th day.

I believe that the Sabbath was made for man, and that every man can have his own day with God, regardless which day of the week.

I believe only in micro evolution, but not macro evolution. Somethings cannot be denied. Micro evolution is one of such, it suggests mutation caused by environmental influences that causes variation within a species of organism. (such as Charles' finches) once Charles Darwin observed that the finches in a certain group of islands all share the same distinctive traits as finches, but certain traits differ in finches from island to island(large beaks for eating nuts, hooked beaks from eating insects). I believe that animals can evolve to a certain extent, but not to a extent that it produces a whole new species(like from ape to man). I believe that God created the world in 6 days and all the species in it, he also created the laws that the world adhere to. One of which is mutation, which indirectly, evolution. It is arguable that evolution has occurred in a certain extent in the ten thousand years since earth was created, but then again, not to an extent of which macro evolution suggests.

I believe that man was set apart above all animals, and that he possesses 3 distinct parts, a body, a soul and a spirit. And that he is in the image of God and was once created to rule over all the creatures.

I believe that the sufferings of this world are brought by man's separation from God. Nevertheless God can take bad things and make them good, if ppl allow him to(freewill), that is why bad things that happen on Christians are often called as trials, that will help mold us into wad God wants us to be.
Romans 8:28
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

I believe that the rapture is an inaccurate doctrine and that the tribulation shall come beforehand when he returns, the heavens and earth shall quake and the saved shall be risen and the wicked judged.

I believe that our bodies will return to the dust when we die, and that our spirit shall rest and await for the second coming of Christ for then shall we be risen to be judged.

I believe in the perseverance of the saints, more commonly: "once saved always saved" and that the verse Matthew 24:13 "But the one who endures to the end, only he will be saved." is directed at people who are unsure of their faith. And that we can only lose our salvation if we aren't really Christian in the first place(Christians by name?) Which means that these ppl may think they have received it, but verily, had not received it in the first place. Yes there will be up and downs in the Christian's life, inevitably, but the holy spirit will always be there to guide true Christians back to right track if they ever stray.

I believe that God gives everyone a chance to choose and recognize Jesus Christ as their Saviour, and that the decision is based on the person's freewill, and that it is God's will for everyone to be saved. Although i come from a presbyterian church, i do not really believe in predestination or double predestination in that matter, which implies that God destines and picks ppl, and that a person believing in Christ is in fact, God's will rather than the person's freewill although he may not think of it this way himself.

I believe that ppl that nvr heard of the Gospel are going to perish(as stated above, God gives everyone a chance to choose and recognize Jesus Christ as their Saviour) and that is most urgent reason that we Christians, must go out and spread the gospel to all the world.

I believe that the holy communion is done in remembrance of Jesus dying for our sins. And that the wine and the bread on the altar does not really transubstantiate into the blood and body of Jesus Christ, but only as a symbol for remembrance. We have already received the flesh and blood of Jesus when we first believed.

I believe that the Holy Spirit is received when we first believed, and not through a second baptism.

I believe that tongues is not the only one, but one of the many spiritual gifts that may manifest on a person, and that not everyone is required to speak in tongues. The Body of Christ has many parts, we can't all be the mouth, or the hands, or the head can we? No, each of us are gifted with different gifts, and no gift is greater or smaller than the other.

Haix... Can't find an inuyasha fanfic that i read ages ago abt Sesshoumaru and Rin. Browsed through fanfiction.net for abt an hour, tried every keyword i've thought of. Well just as fluent the story goes, it managed to slip through my probing fingers. It's such a touching story, with a tragic ending but yet a soothing conclusion. It's hard to write abt somebody's death, but it's even harder to make somebody die so gracefully. Suddenly had an urge to read it after reading a poem on written by Kylie.

Lol today went to biopolis to attend some funtional genomics course. Pretty much of the course is experimental work. But before that we had to attend a safety briefing and then a lecture abt genetic expressions. The safety briefing was fine, but i was drifting asleep all the time cos of a long story(later then tell)... The lecture was much more interesting, why? Party because of content, partly cos of the lecturer's accent! He is called "Peng Jingrong" lol sounds like jiu rou peng you... Ya as you might have guessed... he is from mainland china. Only 70% of his lecture could be deciphered. hahas Well during experiment made some new frens. My bench ppl, whom are really interesting, and two other VJC frens that are from andrew's and Eugene's bench, they are even more interesting. lol

Today morning just in case of a runny nose, i decided to take some anti allergy medicine. I have sinusitis and am susceptible to runny and blocked noses. So i took the Zytec antihistamine. But then it finish liao. So i go find somemore. Then dunt have Zrytec but found another antihistamine. Ok fine... then eat lor. But as i swallowed i suddenly saw the thing on top with big letters wrote "One tablet at night." I started. I quickly look closely and then saw underneath in smaller words wrote "May cause drowsiness, refrain from operating machinery". Damn lor... Then i faster make a cup of tea so to let the effects of caffiene countereact with the effects of de drug. But sian... not strong enough sia... So thats why keep falling asleep!

hahas here goes de first post of my new blog! =D

Here are some guys who can sing high. High not as in tenor, but real high, like soprano or sopranino. =)

Candidate 1: Vitas

The Russian "Super Boy"... The highest he hits here is D6, a full note above the soprano C6. Judging from de sound he makes, he probably hits it in his headvoice, more commonly known as reinforced falsetto.

In this fafafafiva song, the he hits a whooping Eb6 (Eflat) which is higher than most girls can even go. =O He probably hits it with his whistle register.

Candidate 2: Michael Matijevic

Lead singer of the rock band "Steel Heart". One of the many high male belt screamers. The highest he hits here is B5, a semitone below the soprano C. He hits them with his headvoice.

Candidate 3: Philippe Jaroussky

Now more on to the classical side... Soprano opera singer Philippe Jaroussky possesses a voice that soars higher than most countertenors, putting him in the same tessituras of the female sopranos and the male sopranists, such as aris christofellis, Although he has yet to hit a high C, the beauty of his voice cannot be denied. He is recently awarded french lyrical artist of the year 2007. =)

Candidate 4: Farinelli

A man that died long ago. But was he really a man? He had fallen prey to the evil tradition of child castration in the past that caused him the lose his testicles and thus preserved his childlike voice. This allowed him to sing as a natural soprano even in his adult years. Candidate 5: Zhang Yu Sheng

A tenor with a exceptionally high voice. Old Taiwanese singer. Probably done by blending both his head and chest registers together. He doesn't hit any soprano notes though. But he's good! =D

Candidate(s) 6: Gary Cao Ge and TANK

I added this basically for fun. It's pretty interesting. Ppl would kill to have voices like these... Friggin Tenors... hahas It's clearly head voice in the end, we can hear.

Candidate 7: Adam Lopez

This is the best... Seriously, as nobody can beat him! Current World record holder of the highest note sung by a male, Adam lopez. He hits these notes in his astoundingly high whistle register. Broke his own record. The highest note here is C#8 and it's a semitone off the piano! O.o
